Proceedings: Ensuring an Effective Physician Workforce for the United States
Publication type: Foundation Publication
The report covers Graduate Medical Education, specifically its content and format, laying out recommendations for reform. The report comes from a conference in May 2011 chaired by Debra Weinstein, MD, and follows a similar conference in October 2010. That conference addressed physician workforce issues.
The report contains two commissioned papers, “The History of Calls for Reform in Graduate Medical Education and Why We Are Still Waiting for the Right Kind of Change” by Kenneth M. Ludmerer, and “Theory and Practice in the Design and Conduct of Graduate Medical Education” by Brian David Hodges, and Ayelet Kuper. Both were also published in Academic Medicine on October 31, 2011.
